From Window Washer to Mini-Blind Mogul

    In 1986 Steve Dale started Two Twins From Texas Window and Mini-Blinds washing. Two Twins From Texas is a mobile mini-blind cleaning service. It was a huge hit and Steve was on his way to becoming a mini-blind millionaire. Then the rescission of the early 90s hit and every thing went down hill. “I laid off everyone the day after Bill Clinton was elected. I joke that I let the ones go first who voted from him. It’s all I could do to keep myself together. My growing business came to a stand still”. Next Steve decide to go employee Free in “93” and would work from home and do the work himself. This worked very well for two years. “I wanted more out of my business, I wanted to start selling blinds. Steve Spend every waking moment learning the complex world of window fashions. “I toured factories, went to conventions, read every magazine and book I could get my hands on. I wanted to know every thing there was to know about this business. I bugged so many people by asking far too many questions that some sales reps stopped coming to see me. I was hungry for more info. We were starting a family and my wife just quit her teaching job. I was the sole support of the family now and had to produce. Starting a new business and a family at the same time is not something I would recommend. I kept searching for the needed info and found it did not exist. I needed marketing info. There was general stuff out there, but nothing unique and hard hitting. So I developed my own. I kept trying a dozen different ideas and each got a little better. Then one hit the jackpot. It was a huge success. My mobile window covering business was off and running. I started making more money than I had ever before. I was making more that when I have 8 employees and I was working by myself. (Since 1993 I have increase my income 4 fold). After a few years I started to think that others could benefit from my unique discount shop at home approach. I developed a package for the do it yourselfers and to date we have set up over 200 people in the window covering business. We are one of the top 3-window coverings business in the world now. As a group we purchase millions of dollars from the manufactures every year. We have had a 2000% increase this year alone with Hunter Douglas. Hunter Douglas is the world’s largest window covering manufacture. Things are going great now with now end in sight. Our goal for 2000 is to have 300 dealers and a 50% over all increase in purchasing power. Steve says that he owes it all to his faith in god.
