Don't be Left in the Dark by Broken Blinds String

Colorado Springs, CO June 16, 2004 -- Mini blinds, wood blinds, pleated shades, cellular shades - all of these relatively new window treatments are great...until the string breaks. Happens to all of us. The main reason of the string breaking and your mini blinds going ker-plop is from not making sure that your slats are not completely open when you raise and lower your blind. Any blind that has slats should always have the slats in the open position before pulling on the string.
Another reason the string breaks is from always lifting the shade to the exact same height. This happens particularly with pleated and cellular shades. People r-r-run them all the way to the top and lock them in place. When the hardware clamps the string in the same spot over and over again the string eventually wears through.
